Seeing 0.1% off inflation cannot be taken as a sign the Government is doing a great job

Does our talent-free Chancellor not understand that reducing the rate prices are going up does not reduce the pressure, but simply slows the increase?

We are surprised that the major news channels are saying this tiny drop in inflation 'eases the pressure' on Rachel Reeves. As the architect of economic policies that are dampening down investment and financially productive activity across the country, 'Rachel from Accounts' must surely be able to read the worrying negative signals from the world outside of Westminster, or is she really as clueless as so many commentators have marked her?

Of course the unexpected drop in inflation is welcome, but we do not believe it will prove indicative of an improving economy. The many diverse inflationary pressures introduced as a result of the last budget are not going away and will not make business any easier in any sector.

We are talking to companies already about how they are going to deal with margin squeeze in 2025. Whilst labour seem to think rising costs will be accepted by the public, most of us know that is not true - there are only so many straws than can be loaded on a donkey's back - particularly in the Health & Safety age!
